Bioavailability is a measure of the ability of a drug or other substance to be absorbed and used by the body.
JECFA concluded that the bioavailability of folate from 5MTHF-Ca was similar to the bioavailability of folate from folic acid in man and that synthetic 5MTHF-Ca had the same metabolic fate as other absorbed natural folates (JECFA, 2006)
Do different methylfolates have the same bioavailability?
From a full article published by EFSA, we can also learn that "No significant differences in the plasma levels of folate between participants given 5MTHF glucosamine and those given 5MTHF-Ca were observed (Technical dossier, 2012)"
